Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) uses bilateral stimulation (BLS), such as tapping or rapid eye movements, to tap into the brain's own ability to reprocess and heal, in order to resolve both current and old traumas. When a person experiences a trauma, their brain often shuts down the "healthy" thinking and processing. This can cause feelings of being stuck and inability to process that event or trauma. EMDR has shown that it affects the brain's ability to process information, and this can help to rewire and reprocess both old and new memories or traumas.
I offer in-person therapy sessions for individuals in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. I also offer virtual sessions for individuals in Florida, Maryland, Washington DC, and the US Virgin Islands. All sessions are conducted via a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform. Established clients can also hold some sessions by telephone, if needed.
I pull from a variety of theories and techniques. I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Client-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques are often helpful for my clients.
Therapy sessions are typically 60 minutes. Sessions typically take place on a weekly or biweekly basis depending on the client’s needs. Length of time while in therapy will depend on the individual client’s circumstance. The therapist and client will determine that together.
I require 24 hours notice of cancellation or you will need to pay for the appointment. An occasional exception may be made in the case of an emergency. It’s important that we meet consistently in order to make progress.
